People will have the opportunity to celebrate the holiday season all day long Saturday at Carols on Fifth Avenue.
“There will be food, fun and festivities to celebrate,” said Cynthia Craig, executive director of Main Street Zephyrhills, the sponsor of the event, in its ninth year.
Beginning at 9 a.m. and continuing until 9 p.m., Fifth Avenue will glitter and shine with the splendor of the season.
Four Christmas trees decorated by students at Woodland, Taylor and West elementary schools and R.D. Stewart Middle School are the focal point of Times Square.
Craig said there will be entertainment all day long on the decorated stage. Some of the entertainers are the East Pasco Bell Choir, Shirley Cherry, Wesley Chapel High School Band Ensemble, Peggy’s Dance Studio, Kristi Beinhauer, Zephyrhills High School Chorus, Florida Accordion Association and the Solid Gold Barbershop Quartet.
A variety of activities will be offered for the children, including hayrides for $1, provided by Dave Dungan’s mules beginning at 4 p.m.
A Bounce A-Lot balloon toss and basketball toss will also keep the young ones busy, and Santa Claus will be taking Christmas requests in front of the Home Theater throughout the day.
Vendors will be selling food, and members of the Main Street organization will offer $1 raffle tickets at their booth. Three prizes will be raffled: a $20 gift certificate to Manolos Restaurant, a bicycle and two nights in a one-bedroom suite along with a round of golf at Saddlebrook Resort in Wesley Chapel.
Arts and crafts booths will be set up along the avenue.
A parade is scheduled for 6 p.m. The Gold Wing Riders, a motorcycle group, will have their bikes lit for Christmas as they cruise down Fifth Avenue promoting Toys for Tots.
